Where to stay
Union Square is the most popular place to sleep, and all the large hotel chains are represented. The area is close to attractions, full of tourists, and is the center of shopping and high-end retail.
If you would like to experience San Francisco more like a local, check out Airbnb and look for "entire places" or if you are gregarious "private rooms" in someone’s home. Noe Valley, Presidio Heights, Pacific Heights and Cow Hollow are fun neighborhoods to stay in that are safe and interesting.
